Topic: Europe After WWI
The world after the world war was terribly affected; Economic problems, social changes, were some of the problems people were facing.
The treaty of versailles that was passed in order to promote or establish peace, was not well perceived by all the nations, even those who benefited from it, this resulted in many challenges during the after war period...
  • Why was Germany, the only one responsible for all the damages?
  • Why did they have to reduce the size of the German army?
  • I think that the fact that Germany was humiliated in that way is basically the reason why they became frustated and decided to seek revenge after all.
  • I think that the other countries were suppposed to be aware that Germany would rise against them one day, since they blame the Germans for all the losses caused by the war.
  • I think that if they had taken control over Germany, perhaps the Germans would not have to go through such difficult time...

Challenges faced at the end of WWI

· Economic problems

· Social change

· Threat of communism

· A fear of aliens and radicals

Problems with peace –

The treaty of versailles was passed to end the war but not all the countries were happy about the treaty, because some of them thought that it was not harsh enough, while others such as Italy expected some sort of reward since they were on the winning side, which did not happen. In conclusion, European nations were not too satisfied..

German outrage –

The treaty of versailles gave Germany the total responsibility of all the damages of the war. Germany had to make heavy reparations to other countries, their army was subject to a decrease in size. As a result, the economy in Germany was terribly affected, their money was worth absolutely nothing, as a result, they faced inflation and even hyperinflationwhich was an increase in prices at incredible rates.

  • Political turmoil

  • Germany established a democratic system of government know as the weimar.

  • The republic was weak and unstable.

Main Idea/Summary:
The world after World War I, was not as peaceful as one would thought it could have been. People and even countries faced different type of challenges such as Economic problems, social changes and so much more. The treaty of Versailles which purpose was to establish peace, was not well perceived by all the nations, even those who in a way benefited from it, for example Italy was not too happy about it because they did not get too many advantages since they were on the winning side, Germany in the other hand was the only responsible for all the damages caused by the war, and had to pay tremendous reparations to France. as a result, the country faced inflation and much more problems...

Main Idea for problems with peace: To end WWI, a treaty was passed ( the treaty of Versailles). But even though some countries benefited from it, others weren't too happy. And this situation somewhat was an issue that the world had to deal with.

Go back to the four sections that you read. On your wikispace, answer this question: How did European leaders react to the actions of Hitler?
  • When Hitler rebuilt the German army, his reason was to fight against communism and Britain supported the idea.
  • When he sent German troops into the French region of Rhineland, his reason was to step up against an alliance between France and the Soviet Union that in his opinion was a threat to Germany's security. But the french government did not take any military action against that.
  • When he tried to conquer Austria, Other European powers did issued worded protests, but did not take any direct action to stop him.
  • When he decided to take over Czechoslovakia, The British Prime Minister and The French prime minister decided to meet with him; but since they both wanted to avoid any type of action that would lead them to a war, they agreed to allow him to annex the Sudetenland (Czechoslovakia) to Germany.
